Hi everyone. First time posting on this forum. Just learning WordPress and what self-hosting is all about. I know just about enough to wreck stuff.

I recently was trying to work around a problem installing a plugin to my wordpress self-hosted blog. I actaully have two sites, but I wrecked 'em both with the same problem.

Not sure what I was doing, I was on my hosting site (dreamhost) and found my way into the SQL Database section. I changed the passwords for both sites from the impossible to remember passwords they had given me to something I could remember.

Then I tried to access my websites and got a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error (The website cannot display the page). Further, I tried to go to my admin panel for both of my sites and get this error page message:

    "Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysql.jskogerboe.com. This could mean your host's database server is down."

So now I have changes the SQL passwords and my wordpress sites can't communicate with the server anymore. I don't have the first clue where to go to fix this.

    Help?

Hey everyone! I figured it out and thought I'd share how in case anyone else runs into this problem.

    1) I had to use Filezilla to connect to the server
    2) I scrolled down into the files for each domain until I found the wp-config.php file
    3) I right-clicked on it and chose "view/edit"
    4) I found the spot where my old password was listed and changed it to the NEW password that I had changed to on my hosting site for my SQL Database
    5) After I saved the changes Filezilla automatically updated my wp file, and my domains worked without a hitch!
