Ok, I wanted to do an upgrade to see how it worked and it looks like my hosting server pooped out after extracting and then "Installing..." I let it sit there and it did nothing, not my blog is stuck in "Maintenance" mode.

    What should I do??

Oh, I forgot to give you my web address:

    http://www.longbeachsales.com/Blog/

You can see there that it's stuck in "Maintenance" mode.

Delete the .maintenance file that should be in the WordPress base folder--same folder as the wp-admin folder.

    Resource:
How to clear the "Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance" message after doing automatic upgrade?

Thanks for the tip, MichaelH! I am having the same problem but can't locate the .maintenance file that you mention above.

Does this file have another name?

My site is http://www.eatova.com. I would really appreciate your help...I'm new to WordPress and a bit freaked out that I can't find my site.

    Many thanks!

So how do I put the site INTO maintenance mode? Adding .maintenance to the base folder doesn't do anything.

How come there isn't a switch for this in admin?
