Hi! I just installed wordpress. When I visit the weblog by
"http://.............../cgi-bin/workpress" it turns out to be a 403 Forbidden error.

    However if I use
"http://............../cgi-bin/workpress/index.php" it works. I thought it was a problem of the .htaccess, but I don't know how to fix it.

    A lot thanks!!!!!!!!!!

First question: Why is WP installed in cgi-bin? No need for that.

If you found WP installed in cgi-bin - they are wrong, too.
    Go by this:

According to the documentation, I tried again but it doesn't work out. There is no rule to run install.php or any php file. The server belongs to my university.

And I still cannot figure out how to solve the "403" problem.

    What do you mean by
There is no rule to run install.php or any php file
"Running" in this case means to type the url in the address bar of your browser:
    http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

yeah that's right, it appears an window asking me if I want to open, save or cancel. The only way I can use a php is to put it in the cgi-bin, thentype a line “#!/usr/local/bin/php in front of the php file. I don't know why but it seems the only way works out.
