Support » Fixing WordPress » Header Turns Black When Uploaded

  • I’m using the Twenty Ten theme. When I upload a custom (transparent) header (header #1), the header’s background turns black but the blog name and other information is visible. I am also trying to do the same on another blog using the same theme but when header #2 is uploaded, it uploads as a completely black header, no image or wording can be seen in the header at all.

It is coming up the same way in Firefox and IE8.

I have deleted and uploaded these PNG images numerous times with no success. I have been searching online for a solution to this problem for weeks but have found nothing that works. Please help! Thanks.

  • I too want/must know this! I am experiencing the same issue! How do I solve this issue?

    The page is: http://www.shookiemonster.com

It is supposed to be a transparent header (just texture) that matches the dimensions requested.

I’ve uploaded the image as a transparent .png

I’ve tried with IE, Firefox and Chrome. Not visible at all…

Strange that no one knows this… hmm…

When you upload your transparent image make sure that it is exact size that you have where you upload so the wordpress does not have to crop the image and save .

Well, it says that the image must/should be 960×168, and I’ve used photo editor app to change to that size, but it still doesn’t appear as it should, even if I save it as a .png … Any other ideas?

is there any way you can post url to the image as I do not have any problem uploading the image as long is same size.

YESSSS! i figured out the problem at last!

All the pics/headers I’ve uploaded so far, were stored @ /wpress/wpress/wp-content/2011/05/ while the admin dashboard -> settings -> media path is like this wpress/wp-content/ – NOTE the 2 wpress-folders! it should only be 1 wpress-folder, so i don’t know why it created another one…

so, i fixed the issue by changing the media path to wp-content/uloads and ZING! NOW i CAN see the header! BUT, the header itself is transparent, but when i check my website, it’s not transparent as it got a black background, which is wrong… but i guess that’s something to do with my website even if its background is not black, so i just gotta tweak around a bit first.

glad that i got this fixed then! 🙂

thanks for your help anyway, mr!
