I am using the default Kubrick theme. I just want to replace the default blue header with an image of my own.

To make it as simple as possible, I copied the kubrickheader.jpg file to my graphics program, and made my design changes right on this file, then ftp'ed it back to the server--expecting the new image to replace the default one. Not.

Have read most of the relevant Documentation entries, and nearly a 100 Forum posts. I've tried lots of things, and have only managed to confuse myself.

Can some brilliant (and patient) expert out there give me the step-by-step instructions--leaving nothing out and assuming nothing.

it will work fine the way you suggest

you obviously aren't putting the new image in the proper place

    are you going to

    [wpdirectory if any]/wp-content/themes/default/images/

    For this:

is surely the default image still.
