How can I make my header image to look like this header:

    http://www.press75.com/themes/side-blog-theme-demo/

I have the image, but how can I add the gradient?

Furthermore, Can someone show me how to download that font so I can use it in MS word and Photoshop?

    Thanks

To find out what font is used somewhere you can use What The Font Its pretty good at giving an accurate result and gives a link to where the font may be purchased.

To add a gradient to a graphic you need to learn the basics of photoshop. - look for some of the many free photoshop tutorials on the web or sign up for a lynda.com (or similar)

Alternatively (for fonts where the license allows embedding) you could use wp-cufon for a custom font on the site id in the masthead Cufon enables a gradient to be used without any graphics. A couple of example of where I have used wp-cufon to style the site ID on a couple of my sites:
