Header Help – Do I need a Suffusion child theme or not?

I am about to create a new site and was told Suffusion would be a great choice for the theme. I am trying to copy a “header” from an html site that was created using a “site builder”. Even though the header is fairly simple and straight forward, I am not sure how to implement this into Suffusion.

I activated the Suffusion theme and decided I would most likely need a “child theme” in order to create the header we needed. However, when I activate the child theme, none of the options that we activated in the parent are activated in the child. So, I tried going through all the options using the child theme. The options won’t show up in the child theme at all.

Do I need to copy all of the admin php files in addition to style.css or what is the best way to create the header portion?

The rest of the theme looks great, but if I can’t reproduce the header, there is no point in going any further.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
