• Hi great community of wordpress!!
can someone please help me on installaing WP on byethost?
The Famous 5 min install doesn’t seem to work for me.

    it said
Unzip the package in an empty directory and upload everything.
    >> ok I have unzipped it in my desktop and used filezilla to upload my files.(I am successfully uploading files.^^)however in the root of byethost I dont know if in which directory I should place my files.
Should it be in root? like /wordpress/[extracted content here]? or
    /htdocs/wordpress/[extracted content here]?

    Please guide me ^_^

  • It depends. If you want your installation of WordPress to be in the root of your domain (e.g. http://domain.com) then put the extracted files (not in a folder called WordPress) here:

    htdocs/

If you did the above your WordPress site would be viewable at http://domain.com

Otherwise they can go in a sub folder like /wordpress, in which case you would upload them here:

    htdocs/wordpress/

If you did the above your WordPress site would be viewable at http://domain.com/wordpress
