[resolved] Having trouble finding compatible theme for 2.1.2 (12 posts)

I just bought a new domain, MomReviews, and I am trying to replace the Classic and Default themes with something else.

For each theme I have tried, I am downloading the theme file, uploading it to wp-content/themes, and activating it at Presentation->Themes. The problem I'm having is, no matter what theme I try, what it looks like on the Demo page and what it looks like on my blog are VASTLY different. For example, if the theme's sidebar is a different color than the background, on my blog it will be all the same color.

I've never had this problem switching themes for my main blog Table for Five, so I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Could someone please help, and let me know what additional info you need? Thank you so much

    (P.S.)-why doesn't the drop-down menu have 2.1.2 as a choice?

The only real theme incompatibilities I've seen with the 2.0->2.1 switch have all been related to the Links code. I've not seen any issues with regards to colors and such.

For an example, please look at this link to the page where I downloaded the theme: http://xuyiyang.com/wordpress-themes/blue-memories/

Now, here's how it looks on my site:

I read the ReadMe file that came with the theme, too. Any suggestions, please?

Looks like you are missing some files somewhere. Did you upload the theme's images directory along with the theme?

There is an images folder, yes. It contains content, header, footer, RSS, trackback-it all seems to be there. Would you be willing to take a look, if you have the time? I would be willing to supply admin password.

(note Whooami's reply - it was in the spam traps so you may have missed it earlier)

Okay, my husband is pointing out something that may be affecting this. My main blog Table for Five is hosted through BlueHost. My second blog MomReviews, the one we are looking at, is an Add-On Domain. It has it's own URL, and it also piggy-backs the main URL i.e. http://momreviews.table4five.net.

Would that be affecting my able to upload the theme? If not, what do I need to do regarding the .htaccess? Thanks.

You see, that creative (and affordable I expect) is hosing your ability to get basic functionality as you would expect.

Let us know how you sort it out!

FYI I tried that theme just for grins and it looks like it would take a lot of monekying around to get it to work with my site:

Hot-linking protection on for this site?

I wanted to let everyone know that last night I initiated Live Chat with BlueHost (24 hour Live Chat ROCKS), and got help. There was no php.ini file! Once the rep got that installed, I was good to go. Check out the theme at http://momreviews.net, and thanks everyone for trying to help!
