Hello, I just updated my version of wordpress yesterday, now using 3.1, and we are having trouble adding and inserting images to our post now. You can right click on the add image, music, video, or all media icon to open the link in a new tab, but it still does not work when it's time to insert the image or media to the post. Can someone please help resolve this issue?

I have the very same problem. Actually it works with the standard theme. So the problem might be within custom themes. Still a very strange thing, because I found a lot of users facing this, and I don't suppose they all use the same theme.

Would be really amazing if someone would help.

What do you mean when you say "it does not work"?

Are you able to upload the file? Are you able to insert the file? Does it not show up in the published post?

The buttons to upload media don't work - nothing happensif you hit them. You still can right-click them and open the page in a new tab. But obviously it is not possible to add e.g. a picture to the post then.

Another thing that's not working is adding Tags to posts. After you hit the button, the tag is not properly being saved.

@ kgagne, I can not upload a file when just clicking the icon to upload a image, muisc, video, or media. The only time I can upload a file is by right clicking the image, music, video, or media icon and then click open link. Once I do that, I can upload a file but it will not allow me to insert it in a post. I have found other alternative as of now. I'm glad to have soundcloud account because I can still embad youtube, and music files onto a post. Just means more work for the moment.

    Have you tried:

    • deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s)
    • switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

Is I already said, this is sort of a theme-specific problem: I have no active plug-ins and if I switch to Twenty Ten it works. The problem is: There are a lot of ppl facing this problems with a lot of different themes. I have found at least 3-4 other pots considering this issue here. That's why I think we should consider it as a general problem.

I have found at least 3-4 other pots considering this issue here.

And yet there are thousands of sites with no "theme" problem.

Have you contacted the theme developer? Perhaps it is not 3.1 compliant? Does your site validate? http://validator.w3.org/

All of what you describe is controlled by javascript and TinyMCE. Is your java up-to-date? http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

You can also delete the folders wp-admin and wp-includes and ftp fresh files to the server in the event that one of the files did not upload properly. DO NOT delete wp-content.

Ok... I get a window that says Are you Sure You Want To Do This? If you click, it opens the post in a new window.

We corrected the _wp table. We also added another access file recommended and it still occurs.

It also says it updates plug-ins which were updated, yet it still shows they need updating.

I've had this site up since 2008 without any concerns and now seem to be having nothing but problems. That tends to make me think it is the update.

    Thanks for any assistance.

@judywrites, I believe the same thing. I have found other ways to do business on my site, but it's really a Headache at the end of the day. I'm starting to notice a lot of my peers are having the same issues as far as adding music, links, and photo's also. But the show must go right lol..... Eventually, wordpress will get it right......Hopefully.

An update... I updated to 3.1.1 and then deactivated a plug-in that would not update - WP Opt-in. I can now insert images into posts. Not sure why it won't update the plug-in, but all seems to be back to normal.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else is still having a problem.
