Having problem getting code to appear as a link

Hi
I posted in another blogsite and they wanted a reciprocal link on my blog. I went into edit to past it in to the body of my blog at the end of the blog to creat a link back. All it did was paste the code and this is what it looks like in my blog. I am not a prgammer and am new at this. My blog is hosted on wordpress.
ALso, I cannot figure out in simple easy laymen’s terms how to add google adsense to my side bars. I have added it to the bottom of my blog.
