• HI,
I’m trying to install wordpress on my site but I’m not getting very far. I’ve uploaded all the files from the unzipped WordPress folder having renamed and edited wp.config once I set up a database. When I try to open install.php it tells me I’ve already installed WordPress and to reinstall I should clear my old database tables first. I should say up front I have no idea what I’m doing being absolutely neww to all of this (it took me ages to even get the ftp transfer working)I really need to set up that blog. Please help me!

  • If WordPress says it is already installed it is because it found tables in your MySQL database so you can either DROP the tables or change the $table_prefix in wp-config.php to something different.

I’ve checked my MySQL database and it doesn’t have any tables in it so I can’t drop them.

If there are no tables then you shouldn’t be getting a message that WordPress is already installed.

    Please review Install WordPress.
