hey there! I'm new to wordpress. and im trying to figure out how to get media uploaded. but it seems whenever i try to upload a picture or media file it comes up with this message: "Is its parent directory writable by the server?" What does this mean? i am highly confused 0.0 please and thank you!
You need to check if uploads folder in wp-content folder is writable meaning permission is 755 if still have problem change it 777 and try and if works then change it back 755

im having an issue locating that folder. i looked in my wp-content folder and it doesn't even have an upload folder?
What version you using as there should be one
You should have
plugins
themes
upgrade
uploads
if there is not one create one and give it permission 777 and then change it to 755

i am using the newest one. i looked in it and it didn't have uploads. so i just created it. should it be 0777 then click ok. then try to upload something? or just 0777 save then change it instantly to 0755?

it only works when i have it on 777? is that bad???
Seems as if your host server is set to have 777 you can leave at that I do not think you should have problem
