    I solved this by adding an empty language in the wp-content/languages folder, so that I can have the english language two times.
    As far as I saw, you save the assignments to the blogs by their language code (just checked the HTML inputs), so there might be no better solution currently.
    This feels a bit hacky, but works.

    Please correct me if I am wrong or if there is a “cleaner” solution

    Hmm, there are 4 different language-codes for English. You an use en_US, en_AU, en_GB and en_CA.
