Have I been hacked?

    I am not sure what to do…
    My homepage and login page both show the following:

    HOMPAGE:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘?’ in /home/content/j/o/s/joshuacgibson/html/wordpress/index.php on line 18

    WP LOGIN PAGE:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘?’ in /home/content/j/o/s/joshuacgibson/html/wordpress/wp-load.php on line 60

    I have changed my site username and password (it is hosted on GoDaddy). I assume this is a hack. I restored my files to a couple weeks ago (when I knew it was working), but these warnings remain.

    Can anyone help me with how to proceed and get my site back online? And I’d love advice on how to avoid this in the future. I designed and built the site myself but am really just a designer, not a web builder…
