Have blog but want to add website

I created a school Joomla website as a favour a few years ago. The school have recently added blogs using wordpress and decided that they would like to have the entire website built on WordPress.

I have no real knowledge of WordPress so basically need advice on where to start.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
