Hanging WP admin (4 posts)

I can get to my site, and I can get to the admin page. I've been using WP for over a year without a problem.

BUT as of today, the moment attempt to do anything beyond the first page of the admin dashboard (add a new post, edit posts, look at plugins, etc), the site hangs and tries to load for a very long time. I can't get to any page on the admin site, nor can I load the blog itself.

I had recently tried to add a plugin that just didn't work well for me (Search Everything), so I deleted it through the admin, but I am not sure that is what started the problem.

This hanging/forever loading behavior is repeatable. Eventually I'll get a 404 or it will just hang (it will continue to hang sometimes for undetermined lengths of time), eventually I can get back to the blog and the dashboard, but if I attempt to go to another admin function, it hangs the site and the admin again.

Any ideas as to the cause of the problem or solution?

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Did you update your WordPress ?

Version 2.9 and now 3.0 is shocking. I'm now looking for 2.8 to start using with my customers and disable their update link. The newer versions are hanging so bad I can't get much work done on any of my blogs.

Also does not matter which browser your using.

Why do you reply to a thread of 8 months old?
But indeed, WP 3.0 seems to have a habbit of hanging, in my case especially when I'm working on pages and hit "update".
