[hacker problem] Repeated attacks at WP-themes (4 posts)

    Hello everybody,

I do not know what is happening, or why is it me that has been targeted, but hacker (i will not promote the ******* name) is constanty making injects to my WP-THEMES directory.

Every two-five days he is back rewriting my files. And only my WP-themes directory. I tried everything, updated to latest edition, switched off plugins. Everything.

    He keeps coming back.

Ofcourse. I presume that one of the problems could be that when i change from 755 to only read - WordPress messes up my theme? I really don't know what to do.

And as far as I could see, many more sites are defaced by the same guy.

Is there anybody else here with the same problem, or, as always, is just me?

And - of course - that happened without wp-firewall & two other active security plugins.

    Kind regards

Yes, I'm taking most of these actions ATM. But, I am (for now) upset about WP wanting themes directory writable with 755 without much need.

I'll do most of these things, and report back. If anyone else is experiencing the same problems, please report.

    Kind regards

  3. 755 means USER writeable, everyone else read/execute only so, in general, if only you have access to your user account, that should be okay.

If you don't want it to be 755, that's fine, but you won't be able to use the built in Theme Editor (I don't).
