• I’m using Rusty Grunge for my journalism class and trying to link categories to a page on the menu of my home page. How do I do it?

  • Hello ydauthor. I’d be happy to try and help you crack this nut.

I’m looking at the Rusty Grunge theme now… can you please clarify what you mean by “link the categories”?

Thanks SO MUCH! Here’s what I’m trying to do. I have 25 students, each covering a neighborhood of San Francisco. If you see on my home page, on the menu, I have the word NEIGHBORHOOD. ALSO in the categories page, I’ve linked the students’ neighborhoods as sub-categories under a parent category I’ve named NEIGHBORHOOD. Ideally, what I’d like is for viewers to click on the word NEIGHBORHOOD on the home page and a rolling list or just plain list of the various neighborhoods to pop up, which a viewer could then click on. I’d like the stories to appear on the home page in the order they’re posted but that someone could go to a particular neighborhood (category) and read all the stories about that neighborhood. I don’t know if that’s even possible with this theme, but I hope so.
    THANK YOU!

Hmmm. Can you please provide a link to your site?

At first glance I think that may be tricky with the theme you’re using. Maybe look around for another theme that has that functionality or upgrade so you have more access to more customization.

But I’ll try to dig in a bit.

Merci. If I pick a new theme, will I lose what I’ve got on the site now?
