group invitations just for public groups?

I love this plugin, since now it is possible to invite via email.
How can I manage, that “invite anyone” accepts the buddypress preferences and settings just to invite to groups, that are public?
Closed groups should only be possible to invite by email for admins.
Is there a patch for that?
