• Hello,

I was interested in modding the main page slightly so that the post previews on the main page would look similar to this: http://www.uncrate.com/list/
With the thumbnail of the picture in the preview… Is there any way to do this?
    My current site is http://www.starvingstudents.ca
I’m just starting out with css and wordpress and was wondering if there was somewhere where I could learn how to do this, or if someone could assist me with this… I’m sure others would also be able to take advantage of it…

    Regards

  • It’s quite simple – if by “preview” you meant the excerpt.
I did it on a site by using two plugins of Kafkaesqui:
    the_excerpt_reloaded
    post_image

how would i implement those plugins to make it look like http://uncrate.com/list/ ?

I’m trying to understand how they would work but still unsure… maybe its also because i’m using the Grid-Focus theme

Those plugins will not make ever any theme to look in any way!
Themes are themes and plugins are plugins.
Themes – define the look/layout/design of a site.
Plugins – give additional functionality and features to WP.

If I have to explain to you step by step every detail… that would be a novel 🙂
I gave you the main directions. That theme you are using seems to have a good basis to do what you want. Now do your homework.

Working with Grid Focus theme as well..

I am running into an issue where posts become and endless list that scrolls to the bottom until you get to the first entry posted. As on other blog sites, I was hoping that after some specific number of posts, older entries would roll over to another page automatically with a tag to click for “Previous” entries. What am I not doing?

    Thanks in advance!
