Image Teleporter
Great plugin! Post excerpt keeps old URL though. (3 posts)

This plugin works really well for me. Thanks for your work on it.

I convert hundreds of RSS feed items to posts automatically, and this saves time by importing any embedded images for me.

I have one issue however: the "post_excerpt" HTML in the "wp_posts" table still contains the original image URL. So whilst individual posts work perfectly (ie. use the new "local" URL), the homepage containing excerpts still request the original image URLs.

Any possibility the excerpt saved to the database could be updated to reflect the new local media gallery URL?

Thanks for letting us know! We'll get right onto figuring out if/how we can make sure the excerpts get modified as well.

    Hi again,

First of all, thanks very much for the good review you gave the Image Teleporter plugin. :-)

The reason why we can't make it work on excerpts is because even if we processed excerpts, you'd end up with duplicate images in your Media Library.

There are ways to make the images appear with your excerpts without actually putting images into the excerpts (which normally get stripped out, as post excerpts are normally text-only, traditionally).

How are you currently showing images within the excerpts? Are you using a plugin that makes it possible?

The suggested way to achieve this is by using the Featured Image with your excerpt. You can automate this by using a plugin that automatically selects the first image of each post and makes it the featured image. If you use a theme that shows featured images with the excerpts, this works very well.
