• So at work we have http://www.companydomain.com and we all get firstname.lastname@companydomain.com (in my case: miroslav.glavic@companydomain.com). companydomain is not the real domain.

board wants its staff and directors to have gravatars.

There would be 371 @companydomain.com addresses to be added.

What would be the best way to do it? All staff agree to company’s IT policy.

Situation 1) I add 371 @companydomain.com addresses and each staff click on link

    2) I meet with all 371 staff and go through the process for them to add their own gravatar.

If I can do it…is there a way to add 371 @companydomain.com addresses instead of the manual way?

I don’t know how to go about it.

Either I manually add 371 addressess or I meet for 5 minutes with each of the 371 staff and let them add and click verification link.

I have never had to add more than 5 addresses.

    HELP

    That’s a good question.

Gravatar is a product of Automattic, and at this time, having a Gravatar requires having a WordPress.com account.

Now, the “proper” way to do it would be for everyone to go to http://gravatar.com/ and sign themselves up. This gives them control over their own attached WordPress.com account and Gravatar, plus it allows anyone with an existing WordPress.com account to simply log in and add their @companydomain.com email address to their account.

Alternatively, you could certainly register one new WordPress.com account and add 371 @companydomain.com email addresses to it along with 371 photos, then match each of the 371 photos to each of the 371 email addresses. One thing for sure though, there is no way to add email address in bulk. It all has to be done one-by-one. Add Email -> Verify Email -> Upload Photo -> Assign Photo -> Repeat 370 more times.

So, really it all comes down to how much time can you set aside, and how much trust can you afford to the staff? Will you trust each staff member to take 5 minutes out of their day to sign up for their own Gravatar, or will you take 5 hours out of your own day to do it for everyone? 😉
