[resolved] Graphic Smilies Not Working (6 posts)

Hey everyone, I've searched though these forums and tried just about everything, but I can't get my graphic smilies to show up.

They were working a while ago, but then randomly stopped.

I have the box checked to show smiley graphics. I don't have any funky smiley plug-ins activated, and I just uploaded a fresh vars file that hasn't been touched. I have, however, replaced the basic smilies with some of my own (I renamed them properly so that the basic ones got overridden when I uploaded the new ones).

My blog is located at little-penguin.com.

Thanks in advance for trying to help :).

Hey, nifty blog. Maybe could you show the link to 1 of the smileys you replaced? Or to make sure that the file names are indeed the same, still GIF's, etc.

also what version of WP are you using?

i think they're changing the way vars is used, and you're supposed to start putting the changes in wp-config instead, but that might not apply until WP 2.2 or higher, not sure.

    Thanks :)

I just upgraded to 2.2 this morning.

    http://little-penguin.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif is one that's replaced

http://little-penguin.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif is one that I didn't replace, and even that's not working.

I don't know what the problem is, but you could try installing the Custom Smileys plugin, it works nice for me in 2.2. Maybe this plugin will rewrite your smilie variables so that it works again.

I just installed the Custom Smileys plugin and now most of my smilies magically work :). It'll take some configuring to get them all to show, but this is a good start.

    Thanks for your help!
