Grab posts from 2nd level blog to non-blog homepage but..

I don’t post here often.

Thanks to anyone that might help me in my quest. =)

my homepage is http://www.stevelim.com .. the blog itself is http://www.stevelim.com/blog

Please note that the rest of my site is non-wordpress.. ie. the blog is only part of the site not the other way around.

I wish to poll a certain category (say – ‘web updates’) from the blog database and paste it on my startpage. (most important)

Secondly, if possible, I would not like to display this category in the blog page (www.stevelim.com/blog) listing at all.
