Google XML Sitemap

    I have been trying to get Google XML Sitemap to work correctly for hours but to no avail.
    I have read these forums back to 6 months ago and have seen many people having the same problem I am but the solutions I have read have not helped my situation.
    After I activate the plugin I click on settings and get two errors writing to 2 files.
    sitemap.xml
    sitemap.xml.gz

    I have created these two files, given them 777 permissions and they are in the root of my blog.
    These are the errors I get from debug every time no matter what I try…

    Warning: gzopen(C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\allxeliteclub\cigs/sitemap.xml.gz) [function.gzopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\allxeliteclub\cigs\wp-content\plugins\google-sitemap-generator\sitemap-core.php on line 1636

    I contacted my host to confirm that the permissions are set correctly.
    From the debug path shown the files ARE where they are being searched for. Everything is as it should be but still not working.
    What else could possibly be wrong?

    I have the same issue. And I’ve set the file permissions likewise, with no success.
    I even tried deleting the 2 files and setting my wordpress directory to full permissions on all groups I could see. No luck. So I am removing those permission changes until I can do this in a least-permissions sort of way.
