[resolved] google webmaster crawl error url error 404 redirect? confused! (10 posts)

Hi! i am confused about this. I want to say that my website is working fine http://www.unlockchiropractic.com. I think it is structurally sound from a technical and SEO standpoint (correct me if i'm wrong).

my main issues is the crawl errors which indicates a 404 errors. I have 26 URL errors according to webmaster tools on google.

I realize it may have to do with the permalink structure because I look at what the crawl errors pinpointed. For example, the crawl error says that there is a 404 error on old URL on http://www.unlockchiropractic.com/2012/08/01/firstvisit/ ...but my current new URL for that is http://www.unlockchiropractic.com/firstvisit

so i'd like to fix the old URL so that I can use the new URL instead.

I want to fix and make my website more SEO friendly. I even created the sitemap and submitted it to Google, Ask, Yahoo! and Bing so they can be indexed.

I have the SEO wordpress plugin by YOAST. I also have tried to use this (http://yoast.com/wp-content/permalink-helper.php) to create a redirect match line to edit in the .htaccess which failed because it made my entire website to failed because of redirect loop.

I would any help! because i do not know how to fix my permalink and redirecting and crawl/URL errors.

My goal is to make my website SEO friendly and structurally sound from the technical standpoint.

    Thank you so much! :)

Try submitting a new site map and see the changes after that.

Trying using the broken link checker plugin and Finding Broken Links Using Xenu’s Desktop App.

You'll need to find a good post about using .htaccess to redirect broken links.

hey! thank you so much for the replies!

I contacted the server support. I was able to redirect from the server side.

now i just submitted sitemap to google. Here's the issue though (not sure if it is an issue) ...32 URLs submitted but only 29 URLs are indexed.

    what does that mean?

What are the three URLs not indexed? Robot-blocked, not found, duplicate descriptions? Could you figure out? Also note that it is not necessary that Google indexes all submitted URLs.

I do not know what the 3 URLS that were not indexed. I don't think i have any thing blocked.

I now have 6 "not found" Crawl Errors. How do I remove them? i don't have those links anymore. is there a way i can completely remove them from server or file?

here are the screenshots. Hope you can see something.

I think you'll just have to sit it out and wait for google to update its index. Submitting a site map should trigger google to remove them but it often takes a while to update.
