I'm yet another person having problems verifying my blog with google. I'm getting quite frustrated now as I have tried everything. I have tried the meta tag method but to no avail so am now focusing on the html file method.

I have made a page with the name specified to me (http://www.lizzysharpknitwear.co.uk/google6f32d810b745c382.html) but I still receive the "We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header." error. The page is not set to private.

I've even tried the same method but with making a post instead of a page, but still encounter the same problem.

    Please help.

  2. You may want to consider getting a new hosting provider since http://www.lizzysharpknitwear.co.uk/ is only a HTML page to load your real URL in a frame. That's a bizarre practice and adds no value to you.

Your blog is located at http://ls-k.vndv.com/wordpress/ and that file does not appear to exist at either

    http://www.lizzysharpknitwear.co.uk/google6f32d810b745c382.html
    http://ls-k.vndv.com/wordpress/google6f32d810b745c382.html

    That file does exist at

    http://ls-k.vndv.com/google6f32d810b745c382.html

Also you have successfully put in the tag in your real blog http://ls-k.vndv.com/wordpress/

    <meta name="verify-v1" content="xyrp38ENSnp0oADq0C14amRdsW0IbcuN0HLJ5xohMeQ=" />

But since Google is looking for the other URL and the frame mungs the head meta tag that Google is looking for then you'll not get verified.

Talk to your provider and consider switching to a company that does it right.

Were you aware that, whichever verification method you choose, you have to carry out the whole process whilst you are logged into Google and have selected the verification page? If you close your browser at any time (or your browser times out) you have to go through the whole process - with a different file/code - again.

    Thanks for your help.

I thought that the problem was because I was just forwarding my domain (lizzysharpknitwear.co.uk) to my website (ls-k.vndv.com), so I changed it so that now my domain actually points to my website.

So now the file does exist at:
    http://ls-k.vndv.com/google6f32d810b745c382.html

    And:
    http://www.lizzysharpknitwear.co.uk/google6f32d810b745c382.html

However this has not solved my problem. Does this mean that my site is still being loaded in a frame?

Well for some reason it verified after a little while.

I take it no one actually knew the reason why it wasn't working?
