• I accidentally set the Privacy in WordPress setting to the following:

“I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”

Then, I noticed when I search for “www.my-domain.com” in Google, my website is not there anymore.

I did not mean to do that.

Therefore, I set the Privacy to:

“I would like my site to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers”

But, Google seems to take my first setting, and does not like to bring it back to its index any more. – I wait for a few days, still not showing up.

    What should I do?

    Thank you!

  • you should be fine, if you don’t find this in the head area of your site:

    <meta name='robots' content='noindex,nofollow' />

when you look at the html code in teh browser (‘View’ ‘Pages Source’ or similar)

to check what google is doing, consider using google webmaster tools: http://www.google.com/webmasters/

or for even more checks, try to use: http://www.google.com/intl/en/analytics/

    or try: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

    Thank you for the reply.

I checked the header, and “<meta name=’robots’ content=’noindex, nofollow’ />” is not there now.

How long Google would show my site in search result again after noindex tag was removed?

How long Google would show my site in search result again after noindex tag was removed?

best to ask in the google forums –
depends on how often your site is crawled by the spiders; which possibly depends on the ranking, and on the frequent change of content …
