Google+ Page Linking Always Fails (4 posts)

I'm trying to link my website to a Google Plus Page, and no matter what I do Google Plus claims there is no code. I've tried adding

    <a href="https://plus.google.com/+xxxxxx" rel="publisher">Google+</a>

to the header.php, which shows "Google+" above my site title, and Google Plus claims it cannot find the code. I've tried placing the code in various places within header.php but Google Plus claims it can't find it. I've tried adding it to a widget in my sidebar - nothing. I've added the Google Authorship plugin. Nothing. I've tried adding specified code to functions.php but I get the white page of death. I give up!

Has anyone else successfully linked their WordPress site to their Google Plus Page?

Kindly have a look on this documentation.

That's what I'm following, but adding the code to header.php didn't work, and the verified email address wasn't enough.

I resolved it by editing the weblink on Google Plus from http://mywebsite.tld to just http://www.mysebsite.tld, then Google Plus recognised me as the Webmaster and verified the link.

(I'd mark this topic as resolved ow, but for some reason WordPress won't let me. Sorry!)
