Write a snippet of code that URL-encodes your post's title, and build the query.

If you go to Google, they have script code you can add to your pages to do searches on your website using Google.

i don't want a *google search box*, nor do I want a *Search my site using Google* box.
I just want a link with every post's heading saying 'Google it!' which shows the google result for the search of the post's heading...

Well, if you use my Google-ized refererLib, there are functions that decode URL-encoded strings and quoted-printable encoding. Reversing them should be easy.
Search the forums for a link the the source. The code of interest is contained in two little helper fucntions.

Is this just not a way to use Google to raise your own site rankings? I mean, if I have a post title like "My Brother Got Married" do people really want to go to Google and search for that term?
Like the Google deskbar, I'm not seeing the real value of this. Perhaps there is something I'm missing, so if anybody has any thoughts, please do share them and open my eyes to the possibilities! I'm always open to new things, but I just need them to make a bit of sense before I jump in with both feet.
    Thanks!

NM, I agree with you. Most of my post topics are quite out on left field and a Google search of just the post_title will be quite fruitless. Thats where, I believe, the waypath plug-in is so useful. There the whole post is compared with artifical intelligence algorithms to find related entries in other weblogs. Even the closeness of matches can be tweaked with Waypath. As for raising site ranking in Google, I keep getting reminded (through a multitude of technical papers) that my (permanent, permalink based) post topics are what Google compares with the stuff on the page and uses this comparison very extensively in it's new algorithms to match searches with my page. The "Google it!" link can be a fun novelty, though it can only be fully exploited if you have very expansive and poignant post_title (s), which I do not.

    Liz, :)
Once I have WP 1.0 installed, which, I hope, will be <subtle hint> SOON </subtle hint> I am going to take a serious look at your Waypath thingamajig. I've often looked at it on your site, and I've been quite impressed to see some of the good links that come up as a result. Waypath, IMO, is a tool that does what the "web" is supposed to do...provide a path from place to place that is relevant to a topic. What a great way to make a site so much more useful.
    Craig.
