[resolved] Google indexes pretty and default permalink (6 posts)

I have replaced my WP search with Google custom search and I have been experimenting a bit with that. First I noticed that Google lists tag pages, archive pages, etc. and often a post in some archive, but not the post itself. I have added robot tags for that, so I suppose that when my site is indexed anew this will be better.
Now I notice though that I also get double results for the same post because one is indexed with the default permalink and one with my custom permalink. Isn't that weird?

[edit] Oh, and is it possible to give a 'noindex' for sidebar widgets?

Are the default permalinks displayed anywhere on your site or in your source?

Not that I know. The only thing I can think of is that Google crawled the website just when I was working on the 3.0 network. I didn't immediately see that I had to change the permalinks, but they have been at default half a day at the most. Besides, what I don't understand is why with a new crawl, the same review should be indexed again instead of just being updated.

If that's the case, then the default permalinks will be feeding 301 permanent redirects to Google. They'll be removed eventually, but that's going to be at Google's pace.

I'd recommend adding the default permalinks that were indexed to a robots.txt file, but there's probably quite a bit of them. It's probably better to wait for Google to figure it out on its own.

Yeah, I've seen it take up to a year in one case. :(
