I have a rather basic question. I have recently started using WordPress for my blog. However, for whatever reason, Google won't index the images on my site/blog. It does index the text on my site. I am rather new to this...I previously used Nucleus and it seemed to index the images automatically. Does anyone know how to get google image to index my site? Also, is the indexing based on the text accompanying the image in the blog post, or on the name of the uploaded image file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My understanding is google indexes the file through the post now into google images. I saw some dramatic increases in referrals from google images in the past week, so I am not sure they just changed something or what they did, but my images are now getting indexed more.

Thanks. I can't say I see the same increase! I am still not sure I understand how the images are indexed...They don't seem to come out when I google the name of the post to which they belong (for instance)..

make sure that WP is writing an alt for each image. The alt is one the main ways a search engine indexes an image
