Google Author Links Error

Hi I’ve been getting errors when trying to implement my author profile image to come up in Google search results, I’ve searched all over the net and Ive given up now and headed here for help.. I’m using Redline theme

I’m seeing this error in Rich Snippets Testing Tool:

Warning: Missing required field “updated”.
Warning: Missing required hCard “author”.

I’ve tried edited the single.php file but I can’t see the lines:
<h2 class=”updated”><?php the_date();?></h2>
and
Author:<p class=”author”><span><?php the_author(); ?></span></p>

I’ve tried plugins.. I just can’t get it working.. perhaps my theme is different to others 🙁
