   Hey peps, I am a newbie at this and am trying to soak this whole WordPress thing in right now. I would have to say I am learning lots but am having a great difficulty in verifying my website with google. I need to do this so I can have web crawler support for my web content vs ads.
   Google gives many options in verifying your site and I have attempted 3 so far. Upload an HTML code to my header, or insert a meta tag on my header or place my google analytics account code on my header. I have had no success with any of these options. I really don't understand the DNS record method so I haven't tried that one yet.
   I installed the google analytics plugin and tried to insert the code automatically but this still does not allow google to verify my site. I have left support email and talked with live chat agents and nobody knows what I should do. Does any one have any idea what I should do? I won't give up but I am wasting lots of time of this issue.    Isn't there also an option to download a file (that is created by Google with a specific file name) then upload it to the root of your website? Once you upload this file you select the button that tells google to 'verify' (by the file uploaded method).

   This is what I typically do to verify ownership of the domain, and it's pretty quick and simple (you just need FTP access).

   Choose a method from your control panel (available methods may vary):

   •Create a TXT record in your domain's DNS settings.
   This method requires accessing DNS settings for your domain at your domain host's website.

   •Upload an HTML file to your domain's web server
   This method requires being able to upload files to your domain's web server. Try doing this if you don't have access to your domain's DNS settings.

   •Add a <meta> tag to your home page
   This method is available only for some customers (it's another new method we're rolling out). It requires accessing your domain's web server but not uploading to it. Try doing this if you have write access to files on the server but can't upload new files.

   •Verify using your Google Analytics tracking code
   This method requires that you have a Google Analytics account for the same domain you're signing up for Google Apps.

   This issue is resolved a couple of weeks ago. Apologies for not resolving sooner. Brain Host helped me out with the correct plug-in. I was set up with the meta-tag plug-in which finally helped me to verify my site. That was like pulling teeth but at least I know now which method works with WordPress for me.

   You will want the 'Meta-Tag Manager' plug-in for WordPress to be exact. Plug-in was developed by a guy named Marcus Sykes. Once installed, input phrase 'google-site-verification' in field provided and cut and paste your meta-tag in the appropriate field. Viola, you're good to go bro.

   If you look at WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast he provides a spot for the google verification code and makes SEO super easy.

   Tried that Christine, It did not work. anyways, this issue is resolved as I indicated through the Meta-tag manager plug-in. Although, I do enjoy how easy my SEO in now with the SEO plug-in. 'nuf said. Blessings
