Google 404 Error!! (3 posts)

    Hi,

I purchased a domain (library4africa.com) and am using non-WordPress hosting service. I am trying to create a subdirectory called "skippyproject" to launch an entirely separate e-commerce website.

Using FTP, I have uploaded WordPress 3.4.2, the most current version at this time, with wp-config edited to properly connect with a database from my hosting service.

However, whenever I try to visit library4africa.com/skippyproject, it redirects me to http://www.library4africa.com/skippyproject/ with a message from Google that reads "404. That’s an error. The requested URL /skippyproject/ was not found on this server. That’s all we know."

I have tried emptying caches and browsing history, typing the URL in different computers, deleting "skippyproject" file from hosting service entirely and putting a new WordPress download with a different directory name, etc. I also spent countless hours searching for solutions in Google but to no avail.

If you have any idea why the site is acting this way, please help. I will greatly appreciate any input. Thank you in advance.

Hi, Andrew. Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the first step is going to "General" section of WP. Typing my URL does not return any site and hence I cannot even log into my own admin platform to correct errors.
