Good way to learn how to create themes? (2 posts)

    Hi guys -

I've been trying to learn WordPress theming for some time and can't figure it out. The Codex is way too disorganized for me to learn it that way. I think I have an article that shows me something, but then random words in it are hyperlinked, so then I have to read all those and then come back... and in the end I still am not sure what I'm doing.

Is there a site or tutorial out there that's more straightforward about how to create your own themes? More of a "one stop shop" or a single long article (as opposed to countless separate ones) to show someone the basics of this?

And I even know XHTML, CSS, and PHP, I just can't figure out how on god's green earth to actually use it properly to create a theme.

At the Theme_Development page, toward the very bottom, is a list of references that you may wish to check out. Moshu's visual anatomy of a theme is rather helpful.

Oh, and there was a theme series starting around this post that may be helpful http://www.cre8d-design.com/blog/2006/04/03/cre8d-20-theme-going-from-drawing-to-code-structure
