i try to use wordpress, and asked my hosting to upload it into my website, but a) when i try to login it comes up with a Not Found page, and b) i find your installatio guidelines extremely confusing, why not say clearly step by step what one should do? and c) your answers to poor guys like me seem to make fun of the person who wastes his/her time trying to figure out what you must know well.

I actually found the instructions very straitforward. Had never used databases before and encountered no problems what so ever. Are you sure your host even supports the requirements to run WP?

my host actually loaded it up himself... he's more tech savvy than i... according to my hosting's website the requirements should be met.
but thanks for reacting so quickly, still i don't understand why you're not preparing ONE document which contains the installation procedure? what's the use of repeating that it takes only 5 minutes if hundreds of entries in your FAQ are testify that it takes hours, days or even weeks to install wordpress.
    here is my site http://sparkleserver.net/~zurizitig/
it seems that all MY links go wrong while those to some other guys sites whom i don't want work... why?
i am sorry that i sound so grumbling, but i really don't know whether i am attempting somthing extremely difficult, or just wasting time with software not worth it.

Well lets take one thing at a time my friend and Welcome to WordPress. Your install is looking good. So. Now just take one thing at a time. Have you logged in yet as admin.? That is where all the controls are. That is where you can fix up your links.

Root, do you see anything wrong with the site? I just got up, but can't find anything that is not working properly. Guess I'd better hurry my coffee along.

No. Install looks fine. Admin panel next would be my guess. Then a bit of styling maybe?

Where does the "5 Minute Installation" say, I should login as admin? If I click on Login I get "Not Found
The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.
Apache/1.3.27 Server at http://www.desoto.ch Port 80"... so what about the install looks good to you? To me it looks like a total failure.

What I don't understand is the "Apache/1.3.27 Server at http://www.desoto.ch Port 80" part of the error messages I get... http://www.desoto.ch is the website of our company, hosted here in Switzerland, but what does it have to do with the blog? Also, when I try to get to the blog in Internet Explorer, I get the http://www.desoto.ch homepage... which has no connection to the blog site. How is this possible? The blog is hosted at sparkleserver.net, not desoto.ch. Could this be my problem. (In the meantime I got the username and password for the blog from Stan from Sparkleserver.net.) Thanks in advance for your help, I was close to suicide.

Is this an internal firewall thing? We can see it but you cant?

I think I've got it..... when isp installed it, I wonder what they put in as the web/blog address.... I bet that's what's going on. They put in the worng address or something so when the link to the Login or register pages get created they point to the wrong location.
A mouse over of the blog title revealed the address: http://www.xn--zrizitig-65a.ch/ which is clearly not the right address.
I suggest you either 1)Get a copy of phpMyAdmin, get it loaded and get the web/blog URL updated right or 2) Smack your ISP in the face and have them fix it.

I don't know... I am accessing loads of websites and our firewall, if it does anything, seems not to stop me from anything. Here is once more the error message I get if I try to login in Internet Explorer:
    Internet Explorer
    .............................................................................
    (A standard 404 in German)
    In Firefox I get:
    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.
    Apache/1.3.27 Server at http://www.desoto.ch Port 80
    ........................................................................................
It is the last sentence which I don't understand. Thanks for helping me so early in the morning. Here it is late afternoon and hot.

Which could mean that our ISP easynet.ch is mapping http://www.xn--zrizitig-65a.ch/ to www. desoto.ch, don't you think?. Why he could be doing this I don't know. I will try to find out on Monday.
Thanks and love. Please excuse my being Anonymous, I didn't know how to get a name, I'm Martin Frank from Desoto Moveis in Zurich, Switzerland.
