On which page that you insert the 'counter" scripts. I installed on the index.php and seem it doesn't work for me.

PHPStats - by far the best total stats package aroundm, and free! (I like it better than AWStats even.) Don't worry about the site being in Italian, there's an english language install. :D

Where, specifically do you install the stats? I also like Statcounter, but can't figure out where to install it. The css? That doesn't work...

harvestmoon, i pasted the code into the footer.php before the </body> tag and it seems to be working. the only problem is that it doesn't differentiate between which page it is.. it just lists the page as the root of my site..

Shortstat is godly. There's a complete plugin for it, and its installation is simple. Just activate and you've got stats. Shortstat takes a different approach to site stats. I'm not using wp-shortstat, rather the original shortstat, but the display is similar. You can look at http://blog.jalenack.com/shortstat/

I know you already got your answer, but just for the record someone might want to use the Counterize plugin from http://andersdrengen.dk/projects/counterize/

Popularity Contest - this plugin is completely amazing. I am surprised there is not as much talk about this as there is... Totally blew my mind away for a stats junkie.

ShortStat - clean and consise, it just has what you need... it's awesome...

PHPStats looks very good, but I don't speak Italian. How do you get the setup started?

Just came across this post looking for a hit counter on my site. Can thoroughly recommend both.

    http://www.statcounter.com/
Gives you a counter on your site

The ShortStat plugin allows you to see stat's from the Admin panels.
