• Hi there!

It seems like you guys here at the forum are pretty active in answering (gotten som good heelp), so I would like to ask you what you think about my site?

    It’s
    http://www.karoland.org

The point is that I wanted a clean site, something in between professional (as in square and hard) and personal, and with enough space for catgories and extra widgets (such as the currency converter).

I’ve had a hard time coming up with a theme -started using Artisteer-program, but ended with the WP Cutline 3Column Split.

I’n not sure if I’m satisfyed -will I ever be..? Gotten some complaints from friends, telling me it’s too boring..

If anyone has some criticism (good or bad) I’d love to hear it.

    *colors
    *layout
    *header

Maybe I have to change the theme all over again?

    Love to hear from you

    Yours karo

  • I don’t think it’s boring at all, certainly not the content – it’s a very cool personal blog. I think they’re getting the boring part from the white background but, as you say, it’s clean and nice. You have plenty of pictures with your entries to make it look good.
I would have the text on the sidebar and in the navbar change color on hover rather than be underlined but that’s my personal taste.
Overall it’s quite good in my opinion, very interesting, very well done.

    Thanks! 😀

Don’t they do both? They do in Chrome and Opera at least?
But, yes, I do think I have to change the color on text, to match the rest.

So it’s not so boring as I thought? Yey! 🙂

Would like to here from more people though -different people, different views! 😉

Because most ‘categories’ only have one item in them…it looks as if the page that appears after having chosen a category is everything there is…Only because it says: ‘Browsing Category »Colorado«’ I discovered that I had to click on the title of the post before I could read on.

Maybe it’s just me…but first I thought ‘is this all?!’.

Solution: fill the categories with more stories so it’s obvious people are watching only a little piece of a page.

I hope I made clear what I mean.

    Sorry! 😉

I’m trying out a lot of different themes to find something that works for me. When I started this post I had another one..

The thing about the category “colorado” was that the new theme had dropdown menus, just had to check how it looked!

I thought creating a site would be easy, but there are so many themes out there (!!) -and so many that have bugs in them. Also it’s hard to find something that says “personal” without beeing a straight page with a blog on it. I want somekind of magazine feel around my site.

I unfortunaly don’t have the skills to make templates and themes on my own…

Now I’ve found http://graphpaperpress.com/ wich seems to be my kind of style. Trying the themes out on a subdomain! 🙂

By the way: I’m not going to continue posting on my website until I’m ready to go theme-wise.

I’ll set this post to resolved now, and maybe I’ll start a new one when I’m ready! -don’t have that many friends interested in web-design and blogging, so this forum is really a great one to try to get some opinions! 🙂

    Thanks

    -Karo-
