• I just downloaded Caroline Moore’s “Something Fishy” theme and the little sea critters appear to be in the middle of the page instead of the ocean floor like in the demo. Since the name of my company is “Tide Pool”- the theme is PERFECT- but the floating critters are distracting.

How can/do we correct this issue?
Here is my website in action so you can see what I’m talkin’ about:

PS: I’m not particularly tech savvy, so you’ll have to explain this using small words and simple terms 🙂

Do you have a section of the dashboard named, “Custom CSS” or “Edit CSS”?

Actually first try deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsible.

It’s not the plug ins. We’ve removed ones that seemed glitchy just in case. The background is static when it shouldn’t be (it wasn’t in the demo). Also- is there a way to adjust the font in the headlines?

Here’s one of the pages where it’s really obvious:

Not sure why the link isn’t coming up. Here it is without using the link button: http://tidepoolmarketing.com/what-we-do

There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting and is a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Do you want to locate and, hopefully, fix the problem on your site? If “yes”, then please help us to help you and carry out the changes that we suggest.

Thanks Esmi- I really do appreciate the help. I should have been clearer- we removed the plug ins- Then we put them back on (without the ones that didn’t seem to agree with the theme). The background remained the same. The guy who is setting this all up specializes in WP websites, so he covered all the basic stuff first. We really think there is something in the code that didn’t translate that we’re just not putting our finger on.

While fun and colorful, after spending some time trying to make minor tweaks and viewing the site on both my laptop and mobile device, I think that we are going to go with another theme. There’s just too much I want to change. I’m happy to pay for a theme too, this one just seemed perfect considering the company title!
