Gettingng category description

Hello.
Im using the one page theme Retro Portfolio.
in the Portfolio section id like to make the description of the categories to be shown, how could i make this? I cant find any option to do this.
Whenever you click on a filter button it displays the things associated to this categorie but i need to filter a text which shows a brief description of each category, do i explain?
