Getting WordPress approved by an IT Dept. (1 post)

I'm building a WP site for a group of specialized services at a large university medical center. The big point of it is to get around the massive process required to update the current sections of the official College of Medicine website through the existing (and not that functional for our purposes) CMS.

In order to get it hosted on the university server or to get approved to find our hosting that will point back to a university subdomain, I'm currently going through the bureaucratic review process for new IT services. Currently, I'm filling out a 4 page "Product Review" for that essentially asks, "What is it, what does it do, what will it mess up, what's it cost," sort of questions.

I'm really just wondering if anyone else has been through this sort of process for WordPress. I'd love to get some feedback or input or whatever, so that I can help make this not a super drawn-out process. I'm moderately literate about computer stuff but only in a narrow and self-taught sort of way. Thanks y'all.
