getting web site onto Google ( site verification)

I went to Google Webmaster Central to add my site. Need to verify ownership by “upload an HTML file to your server”. Is my server FatCow or WordPress ? And, how,exactly do I go about uploading this file? Thanks to anyone who can answer this.
