I'm a newbie using Deadline 1.0 by Orman Clark but cant get any moving picture to work at all although I have tried to install several slideshow type widgets.
Can you help me please

That's a premium theme from what I can see. So you really need to contact the theme vendors for support.

Check the plugin's documentation and any supporting documents on the plugin author's site. Failing that, try posting in the Plugins & Hacks forum - ensuring that you tag the post for the appropriate plugin.

Usually by editing the relevant template file in your theme (commonly index.php). If you simply want a certain post to be at the top, make it sticky.

Well as I said at the beginning I'm new to wordpress so that's as clear as mud.
So if you cant take a look and advise me I should just find who designed the templates and as them, right? -

You could at least have explained how to make it 'sticky' -
You didn't ask..
Edit the Post you want to make sticky and click the Visibility link in the Publish tab. Tick "Stick post to front page" and then Update.
