   Hi, Google will not pick up my website even after verification and a sitemap plugin, is there anything else which I should have?

   How long has it been since you submitted your sitemap?

   It takes anywhere from a few hours to a few months. Unfortunately, it's entirely up to Google. All you can do is wait.

   You can go to Webmaster's Tools/Site Configuration/Settings/ and turn up Google's crawl rate of your site, and that may help, but sometimes that option is not available.

   I think it's turned off for new sites (takes a week or month to kick in).

   I have turned up the crawl rate, and will sit back and wait.
