Getting Rid of Appostrophes in URLs (5 posts)

Guys - I sometimes include headlines with quotes or apostrophes in them. WordPress seems to keep these characters in the URL, so you get bad URLs, like this one:

    http://www.triplepundit.com/2010/05/uncommon-ground-chicago%E2%80%99s-certified-organic-roof-top-farm/

I'm usually VERY careful about checking, but even I mess it up sometimes. Image what the average blogger does. Can I request that wordpress strip these things by default in the permalink?

  2. That's unexpected behavior. Mine are stripped out.

    What plugins are you running?

Interesting... that's good news, I guess. I have a lot of plugins so god knows what might be causing it. I'll experiment around and see what I can do. Good to know this isn't normal. Thanks!

  4. I have an answer for you.

    1) This is a known bug - http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/9591

    2) It's the FANCY (i.e. smart) quote that does it (’ versus ').
