Getting rid of a "nag" message (7 posts)

I just finished updating my voidy theme to 2.3.2 but had to do it via my ftp client, the ftp at WP just won't cooperate for me at all. The process was simple enough. But...now I'm being nagged with a message insisting-

An automated WordPress update has failed to complete - please attempt the update again now.

I thought it would go away after I logged out last evening. But today it's still there. And if I attempt this move again, I know nothing will happen. In the first place, I know my theme is up to date at the present. There was another dialog that came up saying everything really was updated.

Anyway, is there a means of getting rid of the nag message?

that nag isn't to do with the theme though. It is to do with the update to WordPress core, isn't it?

Mmm, well, it seemed everything was up to date except that particular theme. I was trying to update it in the "usual way" via my WP ftp (you know where you have your ID for your server typed in to "Connection Information", and that lot) but that never works for me, it always hangs (prolly due to my dialup). I was easily able to update the theme via Filezilla. But I'm still getting that nag message. On the Updates page it did say everything, including my themes, was OK.

I'm about to go back right now, I'll see if the message is still there and investigate further.

Umpfh. It's still there, on my dashboard. I noticed the symbol with the "1" not only on Dashboard Updates but also at Appearance > Plugins. Currently I'm trying to update one plugin, again thru WP's ftp. Not sure this will work, though! The little wheel might spin for an hour and still, nothing happens... Maybe the nag message was about the plugins...still don't know for certain...

    Gads, but I hate Dialup!!

I think it's the plugins it wants me to update...I'm trying that now, not expecting a success. Will probably have to find this plugin elsewhere and upload it thru my ftp client.

If you just want to stop it nagging and aren't bothered about it updating, go into the plugin editor and change the version number of the plugin in its main php file to something higher than the current version.

The black number 1 on the Dashboard has gone away now, only the number 1 at the Plugins is still showing. I'm positive now that this is the real reason for the "nag" message.

go into the plugin editor and change the version number of the plugin in its main php file to something higher than the current version.

Didn't know I could do that, I was about to go off and try looking up the newest version of the plugin around the forum documentation...

Didn't know I could do that...

It's more of a workaround than a solution, but upgrading the plugin would be the better option if you can.
