• For the past few days I’ve noticed an /?ver=1.2.6 and /./?ver=1.2.6 entry in my Cystats Last Hits. This started appearing after I changed some permissions and restricted browser viewing of my contents folder on my server.

I did this because I’ve been having problems with someone changing my WordPress password. I’ve had to reset my WordPress password three times this month alone. After seeing the /?ver=1.2.6 and /./?ver=1.2.6 entries, I removed my .htaccess entry for my contents folder and yesterday the hacker managed to change my WordPress email, password, put their ads in my sidebar and at the bottom of my posts.

For most of the day yesterday, I was unable to login to my WordPress admin or to reset my password. If it wasn’t for help from my server, I would still be locked out.

So I put my content folder restriction entry back into my .htaccess file.

I can’t find anything in the search engines or the wp forums on this /?ver=1.2.6 and /./?ver=1.2.6 entry. If anyone has an idea or any knowledge of what this is, what it does or whatever, I would really appreciate hearing it. It doesn’t show up with every visitor to my site, just a few.
