Getting flooded by spammers on BuddyPress (4 posts)

After having Buddypress successfully up and running for a week (site still is testing mode but active) starting to get nasty and very determined spammers trying to flood my site with all kinds of crap like selling steroids.

Seems to be coming from Russia and East block countries. For now I turned off BuddyPress, but still they keep registering. I have installed Captcha and does nothing. Also tried several plug-ins that are suppose to block email addresses you type in, that does nothing either. They still keep coming!

How can I block these pests?

Example a common source is @mailcatch.com a known and notorious provider that seems to specialize in black market and other criminal, unethical traffic.

Someone in China was continually trying to log in at one of my sites with an account that does not even exist, and Wordfence Security has completely resolved that.

Thanks for the tip! Trying out Wordfence now. Seems the worst spammer is coming from St. Petersburg Russia. I blocked him with Wordfence, it reports its a human not a bot, so we'll see if he has multiple IP's. That's a cool program!
